Jackfruit365™ is the winner of India’s National Startup Award 2020 for Food Processing and winner of the Most Innovative Product in the Health and Wellness category at Gulfood 2021. James’s patented invention is flour from unripe jackfruit to control the blood sugar levels of diabetes patients. The clinical study results presented at the American Diabetes Association's conference and published in Nature Group Journal showed that adding just one tablespoon of Jackfruit365™ flour while making ordinary roti or dosa every day, can reduce daily blood sugar. In 3 months, it can reduce HbA1c levels or average blood sugar level.
James was inspired to create this simple solution to diabetes after meeting Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in 2014. Earlier farmers from Kerala had to send jackfruits to Delhi, to get any value. Now, Jackfruit365 buys them in Kerala, makes jackfruit flour and sells it through 5000 kirana shops and supermarkets in Kerala itself. This does not include online sales across India. Jackfruit365's vision is to source every jackfruit in India, from Kerala to Tripura, and help India control diabetes by adding just one spoon of Jackfruit365™. James had the opportunity to present this vision to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Startup India conference, The Prarambh.
